Suicide Bomber Kills Three in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia (HOL) - A suicide bomber drove a truck with explosives into Somalia’s main petroleum storage in Mogadishu killing eight people including six government soldiers and wounding several soldiers and civilians.
 
Deputy Governor of Benadir region who is also the Mayor of Mogadishu Mr. Abdirahman Ibrahim Sbriye Shaweye told us that he bomber is a foreign and they have parts of the bomber’s body which does not look like Somali.
 
The Mayor said that the three soldiers that died were guarding the front gate of the facility and that they stopped the bomber who was driving a Toyota truck at the front gate where he detonated the explosives.
 
 Other reports related to the explosion say that the bomber wanted to explode his explosives at the Policy Academy where soldiers loyal to the government are stationed but after he was turned away twice from entering the Academy decided to explode his explosives at the front gate of the petroleum storage.
 
This suicide bombing comes at a time when in the last few days there have been clashes between the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) forces on one side and forces loyal to insurgent groups Al-Shabab and Hisbul Islam on the other hand.
