Somali Prime Minister condemns killing Southwest state minister of justice

    Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has strongly condemned the suicide bombing that killed southwest state minister of Justice Sheikh Hassan Ibrahim Lugbur and his son in Baidoa on Friday.

    Hamza said that acts of terrorism would never discourage the efforts of the people and the Somali government to strengthen security and achieve lasting peace.

    "I sent my condolences to the minister's family and the entire Somali community, praying Allah (SWT) to grant him the highest place in Jannah," he said.

    Ilyas Ali Nor, information minister for the state, said his counterpart for Justice, Hassan Ibrahim Hassan (Lugbur), and one of his sons were killed by an explosive device after leaving a mosque in Baidoa town.

    At least 11 other people, including another son of the late minister, were reportedly injured in the attack.

    No one has claimed responsibility for the blast, but the president of Southwest state, Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen, said Al Shabaab was behind the explosion.
