Somali President meets with his Burundian partner in Bujumbura

President of Somali Transitional Federal Government, Sharif Sh. Ahmed has had talks with Burundian president, Pierre Nkurunziza in the Burundian capital Bujumbura today, official said.

The Somali president Sharif Sh. Ahmed and his partner Burundian president, Pierre discussed strengthening ties between the two countries and Burundi’s vital role in Somalia as Burundi is the second major African nation that contributed troops to AU mission (AMISOM) supporting Somali government in fight against Al-Shabab.

Pierre Nkuranziza, Burundian president promised that his country is committed to send extra soldiers to the Somali capital Mogadishu as minister of livestock and pasture, Hussein Mohamud Haji told the state media today on the line to Bujumbura and Mr. Hussein is among the delegation of the Somali president Sharif there.

The Burundian president’s pledge comes as the Somali capital Mogadishu is freed from Al-Shabab and is completely under control by Somali government and the African union peacekeeping forces while the capital is also expected to host high level conferences in the country is preparing to have new parliament and president august 20 this year.

Mogadishu is also being visited massively by international community who used to evaluate and observe the situation in Somalia from offices in Nairobi Kenya, but now moved to the capital including the United Nations’ office for Somali political affairs while Somali diaspora are returning back home because the stability in Mogadishu right now.
