newinsideDar es Salaam (Pana) - Somalia’s deteriorating humanitarian situation calls for urgent, immediate capacity for the Somalia Transitional Federal Government (TFG) to be able to deliver basic services for its people, Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) Chief of Land Forces Lt.-Gen. Katumba Wamala has said.
Wamala made the remark at the formal opening of a Consultative Needs Assessment Workshop for the TFG, organized by African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) in the Ugandan capital, Kampala.
The three-day workshop has brought together 25 officials, including a minister and civil servants from the Office of the President, Office of the Prime Minister and six ministries of the Somalia TFG.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the AU Commission for Somalia, Wafula Wamunyinyi, has said “normalcy can only return to Somalia if the government is able to provide basic services to the people.”
