Eden Prairie Police are looking for information about a drive-by shooting that happened in the early hours of Jan. 5 in the parking lot of the Prairie Meadow apartment building.Police arrested four Somali males between the ages of 19 and 21 in a car that was seen leaving the scene. A vehicle search turned up a 9 mm pistol and ammunition that matched brand and caliber of a spent shell casing found at the crime scene. The men were arrested and jailed, but later released without being charged.
Police are still investigating who or what the target of the shooting was, so there's technically no victim, said Sgt. Bill Wyffels, which is part of the reason the suspects were not charged. They also don't know what might have motivated the shooters or where the bullets stopped. Wyffels said the suspects have not cooperated with investigators.
Witnesses told police two shots were fired from a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant, likely aimed at the complex at 11315 Westwind Drive. The weapon police recovered was two rounds short of being fully loaded.
"We are still seeking information from any possible witnesses in the neighborhood, looking for anybody else who has further information on this," Wyffels said.
Anyone with information about the shooting should contact the Eden Prairie Police Department at
