Beledweyne (HOL) - A curfew was imposed on the city of Beledweyne last night following the victory of pro-government forces over Islamic insurgents that controlled the city. The curfew was not announced ahead of time suggesting that something may have happened that caused the sudden announcement of the curfew.

Heavily armed pro-government forces could be seen last night inside the city as well as on the outskirts of the city ordering people to close businesses and asking resident to inform them of any suspicious people or activities that may endanger the city’s security.

Many business owners were unhappy with the curfew, particularly restaurant owners who complained about the fact that they were not notified of the curfew ahead of time.

However, the western part of the city, particularly Howlwadaadg district, has armed civilian security forces organized and hired by business owners who are worried that they property may be looted.

On another note, there have been heavy rains in many parts of the region which has been a good new for people who have been waiting for rain after droughts that affected the region recently. It is, however, reported that the rains have caused some damages to properties.
