The number of people wounded in fighting that took place yesterday in some areas in Mogadishu between Somalia’s Transitional Federal Government (TFG) and AMISOM troops on the one hand and insurgents opposed to the TFG on the other hand is increasing.Almost 40 civilians were wounded in the fighting. The wounded were taken to Medina and Keysaney hospitals. The wounded civilians include women, children, elderly and young people.
Most of the wounded are residents in the districts of Hodan, Howlwadaag, Boondheere and Shibis where heavy fighting took place yesterday.
Most of the victims of the fighting in Mogadishu are civilians who are not involved in the fighting due to stray bullets and indiscriminate shelling by warring sides.
Despite the heavy casualties and the suffering of civilians whenever warring sides engage in fighting, there have been recently hopes of ending the war in the city.
