Ahmed Guled, 73, says he doens't know why he was beaten and stabbed outside his Auburn home on Thursday.

An elderly man who fled Somalia to escape war is recovering from wounds suffered in an attack outside his home in Auburn last week. Auburn police are investigating Thursday's attack on Ahmed Guled, 73, according to the Lewiston Sun Journal.

Guled told authorities that he was attacked by a young Somali man and four white Americans he didn't know. Guled was beaten and stabbed in the incident, according to the paper. The incident involved a deal over a car, but Guled told the paper he doesn't understand why he was attacked.

Guled was hospitalized with his injuries until yesterday. Details about the incident were released by the president of the African Immigrants Association, Said Mohamud, who told the paper that it's important for the community to know what happened to an elderly person.
