Seventy-three-year-old Ahmed Guled suffered stab wounds to his back and side and other injuries in the Thursday attack.
Guled says he was attacked by a young Somali and four white Americans he did not know. It could have been due to a dispute over a car deal.
Guled tells the Lewiston Sun Journal he feels scared.
The president of the African Immigrants Association, Said Mohamud, says it’s important the community know what happened to an elderly person.
Auburn Police Chief Phil Crowell says police are investigating.
Guled remained hospitalized until Monday.
