MOGADISHU (HOL) - African Union special envoy to Somalia, Nicolas Bwakira has confirmed to journalists that the transitional federal government of Somalia will retake the city of Jowhar from Al-Shabaab forces who seized the city from forces loyal to transitional federal government Somalia two days ago.
Mr. Nicolas Bwakira made the comments in Nairobi after he returned from a two day visit to Somalia capital, Mogadishu.

When asked about the recent seizure of the strategic city of Jowhar by insurgent forces from the transitional government forces, the Ambassador said that the seizure was a politically calculated act since the President
of the transitional government comes from that city.
“I can confirm it for you that the transitional government forces will retake the city from insurgents in the next couple of days” said the AU Ambassador for Somalia.
When asked if the transitional government forces control the whole of Mogadishu, the Ambassador responded that the transitional government has control of the whole city although there are hit and run attacks at government forces by insurgents.
