The African Union is coming under pressure to appoint a new investigation team to probe the inhuman actions of peacekeeping troops in the Somali capital, Mogadishu. Human rights groups have accused the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops of murdering many innocent civilians whenever they are hit by a roadside explosion in the war-ravaged country.
According to a Human Rights Watch report, AMISOM troops killed 13 civilians in Mogadishu only in February.
More than 2,900 women and children living in Sahal Refugee Camp are presently without shelter, food and water, a Press TV correspondent reports.
In the meantime, the US government has revealed that it has sent more than 45 tons of heavy weapons as well as $10 million in cash to the Somali government.
A group of Somali elders, speaking on the condition of anonymity, have called on the Muslim countries to urge the US to avoid interfering in Somalia's internal affairs.
