MINNEAPOLIS — A lawyer for a Minnesota Somali man accused of traveling to Somalia to fight with Islamic terrorists says his client plans to plead guilty at a hearing Tuesday.

Attorney Jim Ostgard (OST'-guard) says Salah Osman Ahmed (Sah-LAH' OZ'-man AH'-med) will plead guilty to one count of providing material support to terrorists. He says other charges will be dropped when Ahmed is sentenced as part of a plea agreement.

Ostgard says Ahmed will tell the court that he met with others in Minnesota and made plans to travel to Somalia to fight Ethiopian soldiers, not to fight with terrorists.

A spokesman for the U.S. attorney declined comment.

Another man, 25-year-old Abdifatah Yusuf Isse (AHB'-dee-FAHT-ah USE'-ef EE'-see), pleaded guilty in April to one count of providing material support to terrorists.
