SANA'A, Aug 16 (Saba) - President Ali Abdullah Saleh met on Sunday with the special envoy of the UN secretary general for Somalia, currently on a visit to Yemen, Ahmed Wald Abdullah. The two discussed efforts exerted to support the Somali government and rebuild the country's institutions.
Saleh reiterated support for the current transitional government in Somalia, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities to bring peace to the region and tackle terrorism and piracy.
For his part, Abdullah praised Yemen's efforts to establish peace in the region, saying Yemen plays a vital role in brining stability to Somalia and pointing to Yemen's receiving African refugees, mostly Somalis.
