Two women who apparently were in the midst of a long-standing feud dating back to their days in Somalia were arrested Saturday after someone reported two women fighting in Evans.

Fardowsa Ali, 25, and Anab Abu, 23, both of Greeley, were arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor assault after the incident, which happened shortly after noon Saturday.

Sgt. Chad Harding of the Evans Police Department said the two women decided to meet on the 4200 block of west 54th Street Road in Evans — apparently a random location — to talk out their differences. The confrontation turned violent in the front yard of a man's house, however, and later moved to the street after the man told them to leave his property.

Both were taken to North Colorado Medical Center, 1800 16th St. in Greeley, with scratches and bite marks, though neither sustained serious injuries. They were then taken to the Weld County Jail.
