Sunday June 01, 2008(HOL) - HOL has been informed by sources in Djibouti that the president of Somalia’s TFG and leaders of the Movement for the Re-liberation of Somalia Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Axmed and Sharif Hasan Sheikh Adan are staying in the same hotel in Djibouti. All of them are there to participate in the U.N.-sponsored peace talks on Somalia.

Reports say that the leaders from the two sides have been spotted exchanging words and jokes and occasionally greeting one another warmly. It is not clear yet whether the opposing leaders will hold private talks or not. President Yusuf’s stay in Djibouti, however, is expected to be short.

It is expected that the two sides will meet with representatives from the UN Security Council tomorrow. Each side will have two hours to present their case to the representatives from the UN Security Council.

On the other hand, Ahmed Ould Abdallah, the UN special envoy to Somalia, has addressed some technical issues with regards to changes made to the agenda of the conference to the satisfaction of the members of the Movement for the Re-liberation of Somalia.

Although it is hard to predict the outcome of the conference, there are some signs of optimism and hope that the conference will bear fruits.

The conference will get moral boost with the UN Security Council delegation's visit to Djibouti on Monday. The delegation is expected to visit nine countries in Africa.
