Brooklyn Center police have yet to arrest anybody in connection with a shooting at a hotel last month that left a man dead.

Police and the Brooklyn Center Crime Prevention Board announced today that they are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for killing Mohamed Muse Jama.

Jama was outside the Crowne Plaza Hotel around 4:45 a.m. June 25 when he was shot and killed. Several people were in the vicinity of Jama when he was shot, and police say they believe that someone has the information they need to solve the case.

They say they hope the reward will cause a witness to come forward.

Jama, 30, had coached Somali basketball teams and was respected as a mentor and leader in the immigrant community, said Saeed Fahia, executive director of the Confederation of Somali young Somali boys at the Brian Coyle Community Center in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis.

Police urge anyone with information to contact them at 763-569-3333.
