In our religion of Islam
Ramadan is a holy month
But our actions are quite unholy
Ugly differences reach peak this month
We argue over when to start fasting
we argue over when to finish fasting
Moon sighting is a ritual confrontation
Million eyes stare at the golden sky
Each one wants to see it on his own
No one accepts what the other had seen
Some of them see a moon that never was
Others scare it with bloodshot eyes
They search it with rifles hanging their shoulders
They make it hide behind a cloud
Or runaway only to surface in another location
And so they miss their prime object
Oh my people oh brothers and sisters
Ramadan is supposed to forge unity
Never was it intended to divide
Don't blame the moon.
Blame yourselves.
Blame your negative thinking
It is your heads that your hearts are ivided
Anyway Ciid Mubarak to you
