Introduction: The Somali Federal Government now has a unique opportunity to translate words into meaningful actions regarding the Khatumo/SSC State. After 33 years of separation rhetoric, we find ourselves at a historic juncture where we can celebrate the unwavering resilience and dedication of the people of Khatumo SSC. Their commitment to unity has not only come at great personal cost but also stands as a testament to their invaluable contributions to our nation.
History of Stagnation: It is essential to remind the federal government that all renegotiations and talks in the last 25 years or so have yielded no tangible results. It is clear that the time for dialogue alone has passed.
Symbolic Recognition: Recognizing Khatumo SSC as a federal member state symbolizes the extraordinary sacrifices made by its people, their unwavering commitment to national unity, and their invaluable contributions to our great nation.
The Need for Action: We call upon the government of Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud to move beyond empty rhetoric, such as "'Ra’iisul Wasaaraha Soomaaliya ayaa tilmaamay in Xukuumadda Federaalka Soomaaliya ay u taagan tahay ilaalinta midnimada iyo wadajirka ummadda Soomaaliyeed, iyo in wixii khilaafa ee jira lagu xalliyo wada-hadal." It's time to transition from talk to action.
Conclusion: The people of Khatumo have moved beyond mere words and are ready for concrete steps towards the realization of their aspirations. The Somali Federal Government must seize this historic opportunity to foster unity and recognize Khatumo SSC as a federal member state, acknowledging the sacrifices and contributions made by its resilient citizens.
