Mogadishu (HO) - President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, alongside the police chief, visited Erdogan Hospital in Mogadishu on Friday, where some of the officials and civilians injured in Thursday night’s al-Shabab attack on the SYL hotel are being treated.
At least three government soldiers were killed, and 27 others, including 18 civilians and three lawmakers, were wounded in the hours-long siege at the SYL Hotel, which is popular with government officials, according to the police.
The President condemned the attack and wished them a quick recovery.President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud also visited the headquarters of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), where he was briefed on preliminary reports about the terrorist attack at the SYL hotel.
Security officials stated that heavy investigations are underway in government agencies.
Media associated with the group claimed that four Somali MPs sustained injuries.
