Mogadishu (HOL) - Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre convened a meeting on Tuesday with the ministers of interior affairs from the Federal Member States following the conclusion of their consultation forum in Mogadishu.
The consultation forum of ministers on the National System of Local Governments, chaired by Federal Minister of Internal Affairs Ahmed Fiqi, was attended by ministers of the Interior, General Directors from both the Federal Government and Federal Member States, representatives from the Interim Administration of SSC Khatumo, Banadir region, and other experts.
Federal and regional ministers reached agreements during the forum, including establishing a fund for the development of local governments nationwide, adopting a one-person-one-vote election model in the national process of local governments, and the standardization of laws governing local governments.
In their meeting with the Prime Minister, Mr. Barre urged regional state ministers to implement the agreed-upon provisions from the three-day forum and pledged his government's commitment to executing the agreed-upon measures.
