Mogadishu (HOL) - The Somali army forces, with the assistance of the United States military forces, conducted a planned operation in the Lower Shabelle region, resulting in the killing of three members of the al-Shabaab group.
A statement from the federal government on Monday mentioned that the operation targeted a location where militants had gathered but did not specify the date or exact location of the operation.
Recently, Somali government forces, supported by international partners, have intensified operations in areas controlled by al-Shabaab militants.
Last week, the Somali government confirmed the killing of 50 al-Shabaab extremists in a military operation in the Lower Juba region.
Deputy Information Minister Abdirahman Yusuf Al Adala informed the Somali news agency, SONNA, that 20 others were captured alive during the fourth day of offensive operations in various areas of the Lower Juba region, including Muse-Haji, Malaylay, Turdho, and Baxar-saafka.
