The Northern Cape Provincial Organised Crime Investigations unit, in collaboration with the Colesberg Highway Patrol, arrested two Somali nationals in the Western Cape with khat worth R275,000 on Saturday.
AS PART of ongoing efforts to combat the illegal drug trade, the Northern Cape Provincial Organised Crime Investigations unit, in collaboration with the Colesberg Highway Patrol, arrested two individuals in possession of khat worth R275,000.
The operation, which took place on Saturday, April 20, at around 9am, culminated in the arrest of two Somali nationals in the Western Cape.
Following up on information received, the investigation led the police to Kraaifontein in the Western Cape. There, with the assistance of the Western Cape Organised Crime Investigations Narcotics unit, the police apprehended two suspects who were found in possession of several boxes of khat with an estimated street value of R275,000.
The two suspects, aged 38 and 42, are scheduled to make their court appearance at the Kraaifontein Magistrate’s Court shortly.
