Hassan Ali Noor, the court’s judge found Abdiweli Mohamed, a former security officer at the civil aviation department of coordinating the attack and sentenced him to life in prison, while Arays Hashi who was convicted in absentia and sentenced him to life Imprisonment.

The whereabouts of Hashi who is understood to have evaded arrest after the blast claimed by Al Shabab group remain unknown.

The court also sentenced four accomplices including a woman to between six months and four years.

The mid-air explosion in Daallo Airlines’ aircraft has sent alarm across the world as security experts warned that the attack showed jihadist group’s desire to add attacks on air transportation into their global jihad catalog.

In October last year, a Russian airliner was brought down by a bomb in Egypt’s Sinai, killing all 224 people on board. The ISIS group claimed it was behind the bombing.
