The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) for Somalia and Head of AMISOM, Ambassador Maman Sidikou has commended the efforts of all AMISOM troops deployed in Somalia.
He noted with pride the great strides made by the troops in uprooting Al Shabaab terrorists from their strongholds and in repulsing attempts by the group to disrupt normal life and create fear in Somalia.

The message was given on his behalf in Baidoa, Bay Region by the acting Head of Mission Support Maj Gen Fidza Dludlu, who led a delegation from Mission Headquarters who had an opportunity to welcome AMISOM troops who were returning to base after having repelled hundreds of Al Shaabab militants, who had made attempts to ambush a supply convoy in Jamee’o on the Leego – Buur Hakaba Main Supply Route. During the attempted ambush heavy losses were dealt on the terrorists.
The delegation also comprised of Deputy Force Commander in Charge of Operations and Plans, Maj Gen Mohammedesha Zeynu, the Deputy Chief Security Officer, Col (Rtd) Peter Chege, the Chief Military Information Officer Col Richard Karemire, Force Spokesperson, Lt Col Paul Njuguna, AUPOL Reform, Restructuring and Development Officer, ASP Lydiah Otu-Nyarko, and AUPOL Internal Affairs Investigations Officer Insp Johannes Roberts.
